Eelco van Ruth began playing Magic during Tempest while he was serving in the Dutch Army. Since that time he has qualified for four Pro Tours, playing at the team event in Seattle in 2004 and at Prague in 2006. In 2002 he took two years off from sanctioned play in order to manage all tournament planning and sanctioning in the Netherlands as the Product and Organized Play Manager for the official importer of Wizards of the Coast, PS-Games. He is also a level 1 judge.

Eelco credits Magic with providing him a great number of opportunities, like meeting his wife. They enjoy playing 2HG tournaments together. Presently he organizes boosters drafts in Renton, Washington with level 2 judge Eric Engelhard. The only constructed decks he plays are Enchantress and EDH because, "40 cards rule!"
