4Kids Files Bankruptcy

4Kids Entertainment, the brand behind the Chaotic TCG, Toonzai programming block, and Yugioh television distribution in the United States, has filed for bankruptcy according to a report from ICv2. The move was not unexpected as 4Kids threatened to do as much in response to a lawsuit alleging they hid money over their Yugioh license (read more). The company lists over $20,000,000 in assets and has other gaming creditors including Pokemon.

The move could remove a potential Wizards of the Coast competitor from the marketplace, though 4Kids had previously given up its gaming department after suffering massive losses on the venture.
