Brian Goldner, the CEO of Hasbro, parent company of Magic maker Wizards of the Coast, has been rewarded handsomely for steering the company into profitable times over the past year. Nasdaq.com reports that the executive's pay will nearly TRIPLE to a whopping $23.2 million dollars for 2010 compared to the previous year. From the article:
"Hasbro Inc. (HAS) rewarded Chief Executive Brian Goldner with large stock and option awards last year, in order to both recognize his work and provide an incentive for him to stay with the toymaker, effectively tripling to $23.2 million his 2010 compensation compared with the prior year.
The Hasbro board decided last year that Goldner played a 'fundamental role' in Hasbro's ongoing transformation into a self-described 'global branded play" company. Hasbro also concluded that it needed to make sure he is around to maximize its "future success and growth" for at least the next few years."
A portion of Hasbro's success has come from Wizards of the Coast's Magic: The Gathering, which has consistenly had its best year ever for the past few years, and shows no signs of slowing down.
