The defendants listed in the legal filing are Jonathan DeWayne Clifton, his wife Jennifer Rose Clifton, Jason Bailey, and Adam Schlageter. They stand accused of conspiring to commit tournament fraud over the course of nine years by fabricating hundreds of players who then competed in hundreds of tournaments that netted the "players" thousands of Magic Player Rewards cards. Those cards were then allegedly sold on eBay. Wizards alleges as much as $75,000 in damages, and is suing for legal fees as well.
Tournament fraud has been a part of Magic since the beginning of the DCI, but it has rarely resulted in lawsuits. We'll keep you updated on the results as the lawsuit plays out.
