Will paper Magic as we know it someday go the way of the dodo bird? That's the question posed by blogger Shawn "Certis" Andrich in a recent article for GamersWithJobs.com. The writer writes about attending a recent Magic tournament (which he won) using a deck borrowed from a friend best described as a "character." In borrowing the deck and playing, Andrich is led to question whether or not that experience will exist as the gaming world increasingly trends digital.

An early adopter of a digital gaming platform, Wizards of the Coast took Magic to the online setting with Magic Online years ago and has reaped financial rewards for being so forward thinking. But could an excess of success in the digital world lead to a curtailing of the importance of actual paper Magic games?
