Why the Champ Skipped San Juan

Andre Coimbra is the reigning world champion, and yet he skipped Pro Tour-San Juan. Why? In a recent blog entry on his poker site, Andre explained things:

"As for Magic: The Gathering, I didn't play Pro Tour San Juan and it was the first time that I missed a Pro Tour while being qualified for it. To attend Pro Tour San Juan I would waste at least two weeks, because I need to adjust to the different time zone when I go and when I come back. Considering what I make at this moment playing Poker, I thought it would be silly to go."

He went on to congratulate Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa for his win.

You can read Andre's full thoughts on his blog here. Is this the end for the World Champ? Has the poker bug devoured him forever, or can we expect him to fall into a role similar to that played by David Williams or Eric Froehlich, frequent Pro Tour attendees despite their jet setting poker careers? Time will tell...
