Why Players Cheat

Cheating has long been a part of Magic, for better or for worse. In fact, it's been a part of a LOT of games, pretty much all of them throughout time. Author Ashelia has recently examined cheating at HellMode.com, but not how you might think. The author openly admits to having cheated in numerous games, albeit mostly single player digital games like Pokemon, and examines why a player does that, and how it impacts game play.

The moral of the story? Far more complex than you might imagine, even in games in which cheating impacts negatively those around you.
