Earlier this week, ICv2 reported Upper Deck had announced significant layoffs from its Entertainment division, which has employed numerous former Magic pro players and was responsible for games like Marvel VS and the World of Warcraft TCG. You can find that article here.

Now the site has published a statement on the layoffs from the company.

"With the recent changes to Upper Deck’s business, Upper Deck is in the process of reorganizing the Company’s structure. The new organizational structure will make Upper Deck more efficient and better positioned going forward. For competitive reasons the Company does not share publicly its internal organizational structure. Upper Deck’s entertainment division is not being 'shut down.' Upper Deck has several upcoming entertainment releases and the Company expects to remain in the entertainment category."

While Upper Deck has laid off significant portions of their Entertainment division, it appears they don't intend to end that portion of the company's operations altogether. The news comes after a rough year for Upper Deck in which they were sued by both Konami and Major League Baseball and lost the license for the WoW TCG.
