Upper Deck Names President

ICv2 reports that Upper Deck named its new president late Tuesday. Paul Meyer, a long time executive, has previous experience stewarding companies into growth. Shuffle Master, a creator of automatic shufflers and proprietary games, saw its revenues increase nearly fourfold during Meyer's five years at the helm of that company.

 

The question that remains now is whether Meyer can work his Magic at the embattled Upper Deck. The company has had a rough few years losing major licenses for the World of Warcraft TCG and for Major League Baseball, even being forced to close their Upper Deck Entertainment branch. They also reached a settlement with Konami in a case that saw them accused of counterfeiting thousands of Yugioh cards.

 

Meyer is going to have a long road ahead of him.
