Trick Jarrett of ManaNation.com tweeted Monday about a new alternative Elder Dragon Highlander format from social news aggregator Reddit.com. User fersher offered up a take on EDH with the following additional rules:

-Rares are banned save for City of Brass

-Cards over $30 are banned

-Any creature can be a general

The result? A far cheaper-to-play EDH experience that allows for a wider variety of archetypes and strategies to be explored.

GGsLive commentator Ben Swartz and his brother, Pro Tour-San Juan Top 8'er Noah Swartz, are brothers of Reddit founder Aaron Swartz who later sold the company to Conde Nast for an undisclosed amount.
