Matt Sperling tweeted Thursday a recent submission he had made to ChannelFireball.com, where he is a regular blogger, was REJECTED for publication. What did the enterprising lawyer from California decide to do with the banned article? Publish it himself on a recently created blog cleverly entitled "Sperling Grove."
So what was the IN the piece that was rejected as too risky for publication? Matt spoils "exclusive" cards from "the set after M11" which featured such hits as "Aaron Forsythe," "Paul Rietzl," and "Luis Scott-Vargas." The lampooned aficionados, who ranged from professional players, peers at ChannelFireball.com, and in the case of Elder Dragon Highlander even a format, were turned into cards. They ranged in humor level and arguably turned downright catty in certain circumstances, and offered good reason for a turn down from the editorial staff at a professional Magic publication that can't afford to raise the ire of big industry players for cheap laughs.
