Frequent fliers of United Airlines will find a familiar name and article subject in this month's issue of the in-flight magazine, "Hemispheres." It seems a writer for the publication put together a piece about Magic at the World Championships in Italy. The article prominently stars Belgium's Marijn Lybaert. It's pretty hilarious to see a familiar face and friend published in a familiar article (I do a lot of flying with United), but as usual the writer gets Magic laughably wrong. Check out this gem of a quote:

"For many people, Magic cards are—along with Sailor Moon, EverQuest and Jolt Cola—part of a pantheon of departed 1990s adolescent geekery."

It's hard to buy that after the best year ever for the game (better than any year in, say, the 1990s), a big player in the bottom line of the second largest toy company in the world (Hasbro).

Still, congrats to Marijn for getting some notice in a mainstream publication. And thanks to Brian David-Marshall for posting about it on Facebook (you can follow BDM on Twitter at Twitter.com/Top8Games).

What do you think about Marijn in the United article? And how do you feel about non-Magic writers writing about the game? Share your thoughts in the forum link below.
