Comic Con 2010 has ended but it featured plenty of Magic content (read about Scars of Mirrodin spoilers and more from the con here). A story running on The Escapist brings us an in-depth look into the impending Magic: The Gathering Tactics. The article, by Greg Tito, details an experience with the latest version of the game at Comic Con. He even claims Sony will offer the game for free, making a profit from it by selling booster packs (a claim not verified by TheStarkingtonPost.com). Here's what he said:

"At Comic Con 2010, I was able to check out the latest build and I was impressed with the changes to the UI and the new units. It's clear that the team is in polish mode to get MTG Tactics ready for its release on the PC in early to mid fall, with a PS3 release in the spring. Like many of its online games, Sony Online Entertainment plans to release MTG Tactics at no cost, supporting it through sales of boosters and cards."

In addition, Greg verifies a number of cards that will be represented in the game, including the following:

-Black Lotus (though not as a four-of)

-Birds of Paradise

-Serra Angel

-Something called "Coal Stove," possibly meaning "Coal Stoker

The game is set to release in the fall and is targeted for the PC and Sony Playstation 3. Here's a screenshot of a battle from the game in action:
