Legacy Coming to Magic Online

In an announcement from Wizards of the Coast today, Magic: The Gathering Online will soon be home to the "Legacy" format. From the official announcement:

"We are pleased to announce the Legacy Format will debut on Magic Online as a new Core Format following the scheduled downtime on Wednesday, March 31. At that time, Legacy 2-player queues, 8-player queues, Daily Events, and Premier Events will all be scheduled."

It remains to be seen what, if anything, Wizards will be doing to bridge the gap between the card pools available in real world Legacy and the digital version of the format. Still, with record attendance at Legacy events of late, including the largest tournament ever held at Grand Prix-Madrid, the move comes as no surprise.
