The Magic Multiverse is rich with background, worlds, characters, intrigue, and all the makings of a potential blockbuster. Fans of the game have often pondered what a Magic movie might look like (extensive fan plots and character castings have been done for previous Magic tales, like The Brothers' War), but Wizards of the Coast parent company Hasbro has instead focused its blockbuster efforts on other products. Transformers, GI Joe, Monopoly, Stretch Armstrong, and Battleship are all games and products Hasbro has focused on pushing to the big screen, with Transformers and GI Joe widely receiving credit for Hasbro's banner 2009 year.

But all that may be changing.

In an interview with Brian Jacks of MTV Movies Blog, Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner spoke very directly about a possible Magic: The Gathering movie.

"'Magic' is a project we continue to look at and figure how to develop it and is again, a big global brand, it’s got a great following and you have to tell a great story, develop great characters, but the Planeswalker story is such a great story and there’s so many elements in the mythology of 'Magic: The Gathering' that could be amazing for movie storytelling."

In the interview Goldner seems to confirm a Magic movie being in the works, but offers up few specifics and never explicitly states such to be true. So will Hasbro move ahead with a planeswalker-based film? Time will tell, but if Stretch Armstrong deserves a film, surely Nicol Bolas can get a debut on the silver screen?
