Matt Nass's regular ChannelFireball.com article posted Thursday was supposed to be about Legacy, in light of the upcoming Grand Prix-Columbus. Instead, a raucous argument exploded in the comments section attached to the article regarding alleged actions Matt took at the Santa Clara PTQ last weekend. A comment poster named simply "Dan" posted the following immediately after the article went live:

"What’s it like getting Nasssty in a PTQ by calling a judge for something you had noticed previously, pretending you had just noticed, and you’re about to take lethal on board to go 0-2 in a match? Very Nasssty right? You shouldn’t be writting on here or anywhere else."

Fellow ChannelFireball.com columnist Josh Silvestri followed not long after with the following allegation:

"Matt called an opponent on having marked cards (4 hell’s thunder, he saw all of them in G2). The Judges agreed and gave his opp a game loss. People are whining because he did so when he was about to lose game two when he made the judge call, even though the call was 100% legit.

Also not sure why people are commenting on that when this article has nothing to do with the PTQ he was at, nor anything close to a fair telling of it."

-Josh Silvestri

The argument soon devolved into nearly 100 posts (at press time) including multiple judge comments and he said/she said allegations between players claiming to have talked to Matt's opponent about the alleged actions following the incident that is said to have occurred.

Nass (wisely) has not responded to the criticism publicly at this time. The ensuing hubbub about what may or may not have happened at the PTQ has generated discussions on Twitter and Facebook. Arthur Halavais, a StarCityGames.com Open Series standout and the blogger behind "Confessions of an (ex) Game Store Clerk" wrote an entire blog entry on the matter which you can find here.
