Special Update: Tournament Day 2 Delayed
In an unfortunate twist of events, China Nationals 2010 will be postponed to tomorrow 16th August 2010 (Monday).
In the shadow of the devastating Gansu Mudslide, which took the lives of more than a thousand people, the Chinese State Council has declared a day of mourning for August 15 in all of China. All Chinese embassy flags will be lowered to half-mast in honor of the landslide victims.
In addition, The Culture Ministry issued an order stating that recreational activities, such as movies, karaoke, online games, and music will be suspended on Sunday. In accordance with this ban, the current Magic competition is suspended, and will be resume competition tomorrow (August 16th.)
Mudslides due to heavy rainfall and deforestation have rocked the nation recently, killing over 1,000 people and stranding hundreds more homeless. While the natural disaster itself is not the cause of the delay, the national day of mourning to honor those affected by the disaster IS.
