One of the games with a great deal of buzz behind it following Gen Con is Gamer Entertainment and Gary Games' "Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer." But the game has its roots firmly planted in Magic: The Gathering. It is designed by three of Magic's biggest names: Rob Dougherty, Justin Gary, and Brian Kibler. Dougherty is a Hall of Famer, and Gary and Kibler are oft-mentioned names on ballots to join him this year.

The game is billed as a "fast-paced deckbuilding game" presumably similar in fashion to Dominion. Press materials from the companies involved in releasing the game detail an August 20th release date. Features listed for the game:

-All the fun of a trading card game without the commitment of buying limitless packs of cards

-Setup in less than 10 minutes with no unique pregame preparation or deckbuilding

-Play in less than 30 minutes

Kibler in particular has been vocal about demo'ing the game at Gen Con.
