The Magic 2011 Dev Chat took place Tuesday with Magic R&D head Aaron Forsythe and R&D member Tom Lapille taking questions from a mass audience on IRC. A number of tough questions were asked, but the Wizards of the Coast representatives answered all.

When asked about Magic 2011 tie-ins to surrounding blocks, they replied:

"<@AaronF> There are several "artifact-matters" cards [in Magic 2011], like Hoarding Dragon, Phylactery Lich, and Steel Overseer for Scars."

When pressed about mass removal in black, Forsythe gave a possible sneak peek of future core sets:

"<@AaronF> I could imagine a Mutilate-style card in the Core Set someday..."

On the future of Voltaic Key and Scars of Mirrodin, Forsythe said:
"<@AaronF> Key does stuff with Scars block, but I don't anticipate brokenness."

And finally, when asked about the future of core set megastar Baneslayer Angel, Aaron offered up a potential death knell:

"<@AaronF> Eventually they'll [Baneslayer Angel and the M10 dual lands] go away, not yet thought."
