They are, without a doubt, one of the most powerful teams to have ever played Magic. But CMU, named after Carnegie Mellon University, isn't just one of the most successful Magic playing teams of all time. They also had a great impact on Magic's very identity than any other Magic team in history sending a half dozen of their number to the halls of Wizards of the Coast and structuring the way the game would be played forever. Former CMU players and associates who went on to work for Wizards include:

-Randy Buehler

-Mike Turian

-Erik Lauer

-Paul Sottosanti

-Nate Heiss

-Aaron Forsythe

In this walk back through history, read Nate Heiss's recounting of CMU's existence through the very beginnings in the early and mid-90's. Read his full article from The Sideboard here.

Then, read a brief continuation through more modern days from Ashes of CMU here.
